Nicosia hosts second CONSEND project meeting and pedieos sustainability festival
On Wednesday in Nicosia, the 2nd meeting of the CONSEND project and an associated public information day took place as part of the 2nd Pedieos River Sustainability Festival. Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Maria Panayiotou addressed the event, with her statement delivered by the Ministry's General Director, Andreas Gregoriou. The Minister emphasized the importance of sustainable agriculture and environmental protection. A significant part of the discussion focused on the transformation of the Presidential Palace garden into an accessible organic farm. The First Lady presented the vision for this upgrade, characterizing it as an urban landmark. The garden has been repurposed as a site for production, environmental education, and applied research. It features endemic Cypriot plant species and serves to connect citizens with the land. The initiative aims to move environmental concerns from the periphery to the center of daily public life.
