Athalassa Hospital: “Squeezing 30 more patients” into already crowded wards

Workers at Athalassa Hospital, represented by the PASYEK-PEO union, are strongly opposing a reorganization plan presented by the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY). They argue that the decision to crowd more than 30 additional patients into wards that are already at full capacity compromises safety and care quality. The union criticizes the plan as a makeshift solution to address building instability issues that have been neglected for decades. Concerns were also raised regarding the lack of specific timelines for the commencement of the hospital's second construction phase. Furthermore, the workers highlight a lack of information concerning the staffing of new facilities where patients may be relocated. They call for a revised action plan that prioritizes the dignity and safety of both patients and staff.
