European parliament president visits Cyprus for informal EU summit

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola is scheduled to visit Cyprus on April 23 and 24 to attend an informal meeting of EU heads of state and government. The summit is hosted by the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union, with President Nikos Christodoulides overseeing the event at the Filoxenia Conference Centre. On Friday at approximately 08:45 local time, President Metsola will deliver statements to the media, followed by an exchange of views with EU leaders starting at 09:00. During the session, Metsola will present the European Parliament's positions and priorities on the current agenda. Discussions are expected to address global instability, fluctuating energy prices, and upcoming negotiations concerning the EU's long-term budget. The European Parliament is set to vote on its stance regarding the budget during its next plenary session. Metsola highlighted Cyprus's strategic role as a mediator between Europe and the Middle East.
