Cyprus Minister of Labour visits Cairo to discuss bilateral employment cooperation

Cyprus Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Marinos Mousiouttas, led an official delegation to Cairo from April 20 to 22, 2026. During the visit, he held meetings with his Egyptian counterpart, Hassan Shehata, to discuss the implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding signed in June 2024. The agreement focuses on the employment of Egyptian workers in Cyprus to address local labor market needs. Both ministers emphasized the importance of ensuring safe, legal, and mutually beneficial labor mobility that respects the rights and dignity of workers. The visit was conducted at the invitation of the Egyptian side to strengthen strategic ties and exchange expertise in the field of labour. Minister Mousiouttas reaffirmed the commitment of the Republic of Cyprus to the effective execution of the existing agreement. The discussions also touched upon general cooperation in the sectors of labour and social protection.
