Regional Ecological Summit 2026 held in Astana
The Regional Ecological Summit (RES 2026) commenced in Astana, Kazakhstan, running from April 22 to April 24. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev opened the event, which gathers government representatives, international organizations, and experts to address Central Asian climate challenges. Key topics identified include water scarcity, desertification, glacier retreat, air pollution, and biodiversity loss. Tokayev advocated for a transition to cleaner energy that is fair, balanced, and stimulating for emerging economies.
