Annita Demetriou calls on citizens to vote ahead of parliamentary elections
President of the Democratic Rally (DISY), Annita Demetriou, has issued a public appeal one month before the parliamentary elections. She urged citizens to carefully evaluate the party's candidates, emphasizing the need for competence, responsibility, and realism. Demetriou stated that the upcoming parliament must oppose populism and address complex national challenges. She noted that current global uncertainties and crises in the Middle East are impacting Cyprus, specifically affecting the cost of living and tourism. The party leader advocated for increased support for vulnerable groups and businesses, while highlighting the importance of institutional transparency. She contrasted her party's platform of stability and reform against what she described as political toxicity and populism. The elected members will serve a five-year term in the new parliament. Additionally, she dismissed claims of systemic state failure, stating that isolated instances of corruption must be managed through institutional processes. The address served as both a campaign message and a strategic outline for the party's priorities.
