Drug arrests and police investigation in Paphos
On the afternoon of the previous day, members of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) in Paphos stopped a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old man, with a 33-year-old woman as a passenger. A search of the vehicle yielded approximately 6 grams of cannabis, 1 gram of a substance resembling cocaine, and 1 gram of a substance resembling methamphetamine, alongside an undisclosed amount of cash. The 27-year-old admitted ownership of the substances and was arrested. Police subsequently executed a court-ordered search of his residence. During the operation, two unidentified individuals were discovered in an upstairs bedroom. One suspect escaped by jumping from a balcony, while the second, a 28-year-old man, was arrested for illegal residency in the Republic of Cyprus. The 27-year-old is scheduled to appear before the Paphos District Court to face a remand hearing. The Paphos division of YKAN continues to investigate the matter.
