Olympiakos Nicosia set to appoint Helder Castro as new manager

Olympiakos Nicosia has decided to abandon the plan of relying on an interim coach until the end of the season. Following the departure of Giorgos Kostis, the board initially appointed Kyriakos Polykarpou as the caretaker manager, but has now decided to pursue a permanent replacement immediately. The club is in final negotiations with 40-year-old Portuguese coach Helder Castro. Castro is a familiar figure to the team, having played for Olympiakos in two separate stints between 2012-2013 and 2016-2018, accumulating 56 appearances. He also played for AEK Larnaca during the 2013-2014 season, granting him experience with the Cypriot football league. Most recently, he was managing the Portuguese fourth-tier club Florgrade. The deal is expected to be finalized within the next 24 to 48 hours. Upon his appointment, Castro is expected to take over training immediately and make his managerial debut in the upcoming match against Ethnikos Achnas.
