Security measures for EU heads of state informal meeting in Cyprus

Cyprus will implement strict security measures and traffic regulations on April 23 and 24, 2026, due to the informal meeting of European Union heads of state. This event is part of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. Traffic will be affected in the districts of Nicosia, Larnaca, and Famagusta, including intermittent road closures on highways connecting these cities. In Ayia Napa, streets around the Marina, including parts of Agia Thekla Avenue, will be closed on April 23 from 16:00 to 23:00. In Nicosia, the area surrounding the Conference Centre will face closures on April 24 from 07:30 to 18:00, specifically impacting Aglantzia Avenue between the Aluminium Tower lights and the Akadimia roundabout. Authorities have requested that the public comply with traffic instructions and police directions throughout the duration of the summit. The event is scheduled to accommodate high-level diplomatic protocols, with short-term disruptions expected across major urban road networks.
