EU Sport Forum 2026 hosted in Paphos
The European Commission held its annual EU Sport Forum on April 15-16, 2026, in Paphos, Cyprus, as part of the Cypriot Presidency. The event brought together institutional stakeholders and representatives from across Europe to discuss policy and practice in the sports sector. Key themes included athlete mental health, which was a priority of the Cypriot Presidency, as well as lifelong wellness, anti-doping measures, women's success in sports, talent recognition, good governance, and the social role of sport. The future of the #BeActive European Week of Sport was also on the agenda. The Cyprus Sports Organization (KOA) sent a delegation led by Vice President Kalli Chatziiosif. Other representatives included board members Konstantina Pafiti and Andreas Papallis, Deputy General Director Vasos Koutsiountas, and staff members Ioanna Paraskevopoulou, Kostas Solomou, and Efi Mouzourou Penintaex. During the proceedings, Vasos Koutsiountas participated in a panel discussion titled Uniting the Mediterranean through Sport.
