Iran executes individuals accused of espionage for Israel
On April 21, Iranian authorities executed individuals accused of maintaining ties with Israeli intelligence services. Judicial news outlet Mizan reported the execution of Amirali Mirjafari, who was convicted of arson at the Kolhak mosque in Tehran and anti-security activities during January protests. Simultaneously, other reports identified the execution of Mohammad Masoum-shahi and Hamed Validi, who were accused of being members of a network linked to the Mossad. These men were reportedly trained in the Iraqi Kurdistan region and convicted of 'war against God' and cooperating with hostile entities. The Supreme Court of Iran upheld the death sentences before they were carried out at dawn. These actions follow a period of intense civil unrest and ongoing tensions with Israel. Human rights organizations have long criticized Iran for its high rate of capital punishment, alleging its use as a tool for political intimidation.
