Etek welcomes the architectural competition for affordable housing

The Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK), led by president Constantinos Constanti, has welcomed the Department of Town Planning and Housing's new architectural competition. This initiative aims to design housing complexes that offer high-quality, affordable rental properties. The project will be implemented using a 'Design-Build-Maintain' procurement method. ETEK emphasizes that housing is a public good and insists that the drive for affordability must not compromise architectural standards. The competition requires participants to submit designs that prioritize energy sustainability, functional durability, and urban integration. These requirements align with recommendations from the Prague Declaration and the European Council of Civil Engineers (ECCE). By utilizing an open competition process, officials aim to ensure architectural excellence from the project's inception. The initiative is intended to address the growing housing crisis in the region.
