Cyprus announces architectural competition for affordable rental housing
The Cyprus Department of Town Planning and Housing has officially launched an architectural competition for the design of affordable rental housing complexes. The Technical Chamber of Cyprus (ETEK) has expressed support for this initiative, highlighting its social and institutional significance. The project will be implemented using the design-build-maintain method to ensure long-term functionality. The competition aims to address the growing housing crisis by emphasizing high-quality architectural standards alongside affordability. Participants are required to incorporate energy efficiency, sustainability, and urban integration into their designs. According to ETEK, the project adheres to the principles of the Prague Declaration and ECEC/ECCE recommendations for resilient housing. The competition seeks to balance social inclusivity with modern architectural excellence.
