Modification of the single-company training programme scheme in Cyprus
On April 9, 2026, the Cyprus state aid commissioner, Stella Michaelidou, approved modifications to the single-company training programme scheme. The decision followed a formal request submitted on March 18, 2026. The Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus (Anad) remains the implementing body for the initiative. Key changes include the expansion of beneficiaries to include self-employed individuals alongside existing businesses in areas controlled by the Republic of Cyprus. Conversely, the government of the Republic of Cyprus is now formally excluded from the scope of the measure. The budget for the scheme has been increased from €1 million to €2.6 million. Consequently, the projected number of trainees has risen from 5,000 to approximately 12,000 individuals. The programme aims to incentivize employers and the self-employed to organize training sessions, utilizing instructors from local or international sources to enhance workforce skills. The measure is governed by EU Regulation 651/2014.
