Strovolos municipality names park after Sokratis Hasikos

The Municipality of Strovolos held a naming ceremony for a municipal park located near Mykonou Street in honor of the late Sokratis Hasikos, founder of Omega Channel. The event was attended by the leadership of the Democratic Rally (DISY), former President of the Republic of Cyprus, various ministers, parliamentarians, and members of Hasikos' family. The inauguration was performed by the President of the House of Representatives and President of DISY, Annita Demetriou. During the ceremony, speeches were delivered by the Mayor of Strovolos and the coordinator of the DISY municipal group, highlighting Hasikos' contributions as a parliamentarian and government minister under the administrations of Glafcos Clerides and Nicos Anastasiades. Sokratis Hasikos passed away on April 5, 2021. Local officials emphasized that the renaming serves to honor his legacy and public service within the community. The park is intended to become a recognizable landmark integrated into the daily lives of local residents.
