Fire safety drill Pyrsos 2026 to be held in Limassol

The Cyprus Fire Service has announced a large-scale emergency response exercise titled Pyrsos 2026. The drill is scheduled for Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The event will take place at the Limassol Del Mar high-rise building located in the Germasogeia coastal area of Limassol. The exercise is part of the designated Fire Safety Week and aims to test rescue and firefighting capabilities in tall structures. Personnel from the fire departments of Limassol, Nicosia, Larnaca, and Paphos will participate in the operation. Support will be provided by the police, the Civil Defense, and the ambulance services. Senior leadership, including the Chief Fire Officer, along with government officials, are expected to attend. The authorities have advised the public that the presence of firefighting vehicles in the area is part of the drill and there is no cause for alarm.
