John Ternus to succeed Tim Cook as Apple CEO
Apple has announced that John Ternus will become the company's new CEO effective September 1. Ternus, who has served at Apple for approximately 25 years and currently holds the position of senior vice president of hardware engineering, will join the board of directors upon assuming the role. Tim Cook, who has led the company for nearly 15 years, will transition to the role of executive chairman. During the transition period over the summer, Cook will continue his duties as CEO to ensure a smooth handover. Arthur Levinson, the current non-executive chairman, will move to the position of lead independent director. Ternus has previously overseen the development of key products, including the iPhone, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro. This leadership change marks the first transition of the CEO role at Apple since Tim Cook succeeded Steve Jobs in 2011.
