Fatal shooting incident at Teotihuacan archaeological site in Mexico

On Monday, an armed individual opened fire at the Teotihuacan archaeological site in Mexico, specifically from the Pyramid of the Moon. A Canadian female tourist was killed during the attack, and at least six other people were injured, with reports indicating a mix of gunshot wounds and injuries sustained while fleeing the site. The assailant held some individuals hostage before ultimately dying by suicide at the pyramid. Victims included citizens from Canada, Russia, and Colombia. While some witnesses reported that the gunman released certain hostages, the overall event was marked by significant confusion and a reported lack of a coordinated evacuation. Mexican authorities have cordoned off the site, and the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, expressed her condolences regarding the incident.
