Musician D4vd charged with murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez

David Burke, a 21-year-old musician known as D4vd, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Prosecutors allege that the victim’s remains were discovered in September 2025 inside the trunk of Burke’s Tesla, which had been abandoned in a Hollywood Hills neighborhood. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot after it was left for weeks, where workers subsequently discovered the remains. Authorities state that Hernandez had been missing for nearly 18 months prior to the discovery. Burke faces additional charges, including continuous sexual acts with a minor under 14, lying in wait, and mutilating a human body. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman noted the murder involved special circumstances, including financial gain and witness elimination. Burke faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment without parole, with prosecutors yet to decide on seeking the death penalty. An investigation revealed that the two had been involved in a sexual relationship while the victim was underage.
