Summary of recent traffic accidents in Cyprus
A series of traffic incidents occurred across Cyprus over the weekend of April 25-26. In the Akrotiri British Bases area, 35-year-old Ukrainian national Oleksandr Denysenko died in a collision between his motorcycle and a car on Saturday, April 25. The car driver was arrested and released on bail pending further investigation; a breathalyzer test was negative. The passenger on the motorcycle was taken to Limassol General Hospital and remains out of danger. Separately, in Paphos, a 50-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle driven by a British national and was hospitalized in serious but stable condition. In Moniatis, a woman was extricated by firefighters and hospitalized after her vehicle veered off-course and hit a drainage parapet early Sunday. Additionally, an accident involving a vehicle hitting a tree was reported in Nicosia on Saturday afternoon. Investigations into the causes of these separate incidents are ongoing by the respective police authorities.
