Recent traffic accidents in Cyprus result in one fatality and multiple injuries
On April 25, a fatal collision occurred on the M1 road in the Akrotiri British Bases territory, claiming the life of 35-year-old Oleksandr Denysenko, a Ukrainian resident of Cyprus. The accident happened when a car, which had stopped at a roadside stall, attempted a U-turn and cut off a motorcycle carrying Denysenko and a female passenger. The passenger sustained injuries and was transported to Limassol General Hospital. The driver of the car has been arrested and is under investigation by the British Bases Police. Separately, in the early hours of Sunday, April 26, a woman was rescued by fire services following a car crash in the community of Moniatis, Limassol district. The vehicle had struck a parapet and overturned, necessitating the use of specialized hydraulic equipment for her extraction. The woman was taken to Limassol General Hospital, and police are investigating the circumstances. These incidents follow a week of high activity for emergency services, which recorded 241 incidents in total.
