Second edition of the book regarding the artistic heritage of Famagusta

The Association of Graduates and Friends of Greek Gymnasiums of Famagusta (SAFEGA) will present the second expanded edition of the book 'Famagusta of Artistic Creation' on April 23, 2026. The event is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Bank of Cyprus headquarters in Nicosia. Authored by Marina Schiza, the 400-page book chronicles the city's artistic history in painting, sculpture, and ceramics prior to 1974. It features archival material, artist biographies, and documentation from the Famagusta Pinakotheke, including photos of the closed city and a portion of the 219 artworks returned by Turkish Cypriots in 2019. The presentation will include addresses by SAFEGA president Kostas Iakovou and Deputy Minister of Culture Vasiliki Kassianidou. Former Deputy Minister of Culture Yiannis Toumazis will present the book, followed by remarks from the author. The project was sponsored by Adonis and Themis.
