Ministry of education and Cyprus football association sign cooperation agreement
On Monday, the Ministry of Education and the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) signed a four-year memorandum of cooperation to introduce football into high schools. The initiative is part of the UEFA-supported Grassroots Football in Schools programme. Education Minister Athena Michaelidou and CFA president Charis Loizides signed the agreement. The CFA will provide technical expertise, sports equipment, and coaching training to gymnasiums. Physical education teachers will receive training to earn the Grassroots D coaching licence. Additionally, the CFA will organize football days and practical sessions for students. This agreement expands upon a similar programme for primary education that has been in place since 2023. The stated objective is to promote values such as teamwork, discipline, and healthy lifestyles among students.
