FSB arrests two individuals in Pyatigorsk over alleged terror plot
On April 20, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) reported the arrest of a 57-year-old German national in the Stavropol region. Authorities claimed she was carrying a backpack containing explosives equivalent to 1.5 kilograms of TNT, intended for an attack on a local law enforcement facility in Pyatigorsk. A second individual, a man born in 1997 from a Central Asian country, was also arrested in connection with the incident. The FSB alleged that the operation was coordinated by Ukrainian intelligence services. According to the agency, the man was instructed to detonate the device remotely while the woman was intended to be killed at the site. Footage released by security forces showed a controlled explosion of the backpack by bomb disposal experts. Ukraine has not yet provided an official comment regarding these accusations.
