Thirteen-year-old student injured after fall at Haidari school

On Monday, April 20, 2026, a 13-year-old student fell from a balcony at the 7th Gymnasium of Haidari. Preliminary reports indicate the student felt dizzy and slipped onto the railing before falling into the courtyard. The girl was intubated and transported to the Agia Sophia Children's Hospital for emergency treatment. Medical reports confirm she suffered thoracic injuries requiring surgery, as well as head trauma and a pelvic fracture to be addressed later. Students were dismissed from the school early following the incident, and psychologists are scheduled to provide support starting tomorrow. Minister of Education Sofia Zacharaki visited the hospital and stated that a full investigation into the circumstances of the fall is underway. The school nurse accompanied the student to the hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
