Update on water reservoir levels in Cyprus as of April 20
As of April 20, the total water storage in Cyprus reservoirs reached 37.9% of capacity, totaling 110.222 million cubic meters (MCM). This figure marks a significant increase compared to 23.6% (68.570 MCM) recorded on the same date last year. The Water Development Department reported total inflows of 2.177 MCM over the three-day period ending April 20, bringing the season's total influx since October 1 to 93.278 MCM. The Kouris dam, Cyprus's largest, currently holds 41.240 MCM, reaching 35.9% capacity compared to 19.2% last year. Other notable levels include the Asprokremmos dam at 38.6% (20.210 MCM) and the Kalavasos dam at 20.3% (3.470 MCM). Reports indicate that several smaller dams in the Paphos region, specifically Agia Marina, Argaka, and Pomos, overflowed earlier in March. Discrepancies exist in data reporting, with some sources citing Asprokremmos at 37.9% on April 16 and others at 38.6% by April 20, reflecting ongoing fluctuations due to recent rainfall.
