Health Minister Charalambidis presents 2025 review and policy pillars

Minister of Health Neophytos Charalambidis presented the 2025 ministry review and outlined objectives for the current year. The policy strategy is built upon five pillars: prevention and public health, legislative protection and transparency, digital health, modern infrastructure, and a sustainable National Health System (GeSY). A primary focus is transitioning the system from reactive treatment to proactive prevention and early diagnosis. Key initiatives include the technological upgrade of breast cancer screening programs. Additionally, the Ministry has launched a new colorectal cancer screening program offering free tests to thousands of citizens. The Ministry intends to expand these preventive efforts further by introducing new population-based programs. These measures aim to shift the healthcare focus toward maintaining health before illness develops.
