Police arrest 34-year-old in Famagusta district following violent assault

Police in the Famagusta district arrested a 34-year-old man on Sunday, April 19, in connection with an assault on two individuals aged 18 and 30. The victims reported being attacked by a group of people outside their home at approximately 8:40 p.m. the previous night. Following the incident, both victims were taken to the Famagusta General Hospital. The 18-year-old received medical treatment and was discharged shortly thereafter. The 30-year-old was transferred to the Nicosia General Hospital, where he remains hospitalized with a subdural hematoma and midline shift, though his condition is reported as stable and not life-threatening. Testimony gathered during the investigation led to the arrest of the 34-year-old suspect around 9:00 p.m. on the night of the incident. He was subsequently brought before the Famagusta District Court, which ordered his detention for eight days. The Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) is continuing its investigation into charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, causing grievous bodily harm, and causing actual bodily harm.
