Minister of Energy to meet with EAC board and trade unions regarding upcoming strike

Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry Michalis Damianou will visit the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) on Tuesday to hold a previously scheduled meeting with the organization's Board of Directors. The agenda includes critical operational issues such as system adequacy, network infrastructure, the Dhekelia generators, and the integration of photovoltaic systems. The Minister aims to coordinate efforts and assess the progress of these urgent matters. Additionally, he plans to meet with trade union representatives who have announced a 24-hour work stoppage for Thursday, April 23. Minister Damianou emphasized that labor issues remain the responsibility of the EAC Board, not the Ministry. However, he agreed to hear the unions' concerns as they requested a meeting with their political superior. He reiterated that the Ministry will not make decisions regarding the labor dispute, as those remain under the authority of the EAC Board.
