Authorities in Krakow discover 148 pythons in an apartment building
On April 14, police in the Prądnik Biały district of Krakow, Poland, were alerted to a snake found in an apartment building stairwell. Following the initial discovery, authorities and firefighters searched the premises and found a total of 148 ball pythons inside an apartment. Three men responsible for the reptiles were present and were detained by police for questioning regarding potential violations of animal welfare and wildlife protection laws. A veterinarian was brought in to assess the living conditions and health of the animals. While sources differ on whether the animals were classified as boars or pythons, reports generally identify them as 148 ball pythons. The suspects were released after providing statements to the police. The case has been referred to the Krakow prosecutor's office for further investigation. If convicted of animal welfare violations, the individuals involved could face up to five years in prison.
