Three arrested following hit-and-run accident in Athens

A 16-year-old girl is currently hospitalized in critical condition and remains intubated following a hit-and-run incident in Athens on April 18. The victim underwent surgery, including a splenectomy, and is under close medical observation. A 16-year-old Sudanese national was arrested after surrendering to authorities on Sunday. Investigations revealed that the group involved attempted to mislead police by falsely reporting the motorcycle used in the accident as stolen. Three individuals in total have been arrested for providing false testimonies and obstruction of justice. Authorities confirmed the primary suspect did not possess a driver's license. The main suspect also has a prior criminal record involving allegations of threats and indecent acts, as well as accusations related to drug trafficking near schools.
