Authorities label eight buildings in Germasogeia as dangerous following an incident
Following a tragic incident last Saturday in Germasogeia, local authorities have identified eight buildings as dangerous. Official notices reading 'Danger – Do not enter' have been posted at these locations, instructing residents to evacuate immediately. The Deputy Mayor of Germasogeia, Christos Papamichail, acknowledged that safety measures are necessary to protect human life but raised concerns regarding the practical support for displaced tenants. He highlighted the plight of vulnerable residents, citing an 80-year-old tenant who expressed uncertainty about where to go after seeing the evacuation notice. Papamichail questioned whether the government has a functioning mechanism or a clear framework for the immediate relocation and assistance of these citizens. He noted that while government officials have mentioned existing protocols and tools, their practical and immediate application remains unproven. The deputy mayor is currently receiving calls from concerned residents who have been suddenly forced to leave their homes.
