AEL and APOEL futsal final series postponed due to policing issues
The first match of the final phase of the 2025-2026 futsal championship between AEL and APOEL, originally scheduled for April 23, 2026, has been postponed until further notice. The Cyprus Football Association (CFA) announced that the delay is due to difficulties regarding the police presence required for the event. The championship final series follows a format where the first team to reach three victories claims the title. The series was originally scheduled to begin on April 23, with subsequent matches set for April 27 and April 30. Due to the scheduling of the second match on April 27, APOEL has also postponed a planned meeting between its board and fans at the Parthenonas Latsion community hall to prioritize support for the team. AEL reached the finals after defeating Ararat, while APOEL qualified following a 4-3 comeback victory against Omonia Nicosia.
