Larnaca municipal authorities to relocate town hall to former hospital site
Larnaca Deputy Mayor Iasonas Iasonides announced plans to relocate the municipal offices from their current location on Athens Avenue to the site of the former Larnaca hospital. The project, which has been under consideration for decades, aims to renovate the historic building as the city prepares for its role as a European Capital of Culture in 2030. Funding for the estimated €8.7 million renovation, excluding VAT, will be generated through the sale of a municipal plot on Hermes Street. The municipality is currently seeking a bidder for the Hermes Street property, after which the transaction must receive final approval from the central government. Once the developer is selected by the municipal council, the renovation of the old hospital will commence. Upon completion, all administrative services currently located near the Finikoudes promenade will be centralized at the new facility. The project is described by local officials as a strategic initiative to preserve historical infrastructure while modernizing city administration.
