The Cyprus Police are currently conducting a criminal investigation into the case known as 'Sante'. Authorities are continuing to take testimonies from relevant persons mentioned in or related to various text messages. A specialized Europol unit is conducting a forensic examination of evidence to verify the authenticity of these public messages. While Police Chief statements on April 19, 2026, indicated that the investigation is at its core, discrepancies remain regarding the physical evidence. Specifically, the mobile phone allegedly used by 'Sante' to create these messages has not yet been located, raising questions about whether definitive results can be reached. Journalist Makarios Drousiotis continues to insist that the messages contain information requiring criminal investigation. On Tuesday, the Minister of Justice, Costas Phytiris, is scheduled to brief the Council of Ministers on the progress of the case.
