HiPP baby food recalled in Austria following extortion attempt
Austrian authorities issued an urgent warning on Saturday after a jar of HiPP baby food contaminated with rat poison was discovered in Eisenstadt. The incident is believed to be linked to an attempt by unknown individuals to extort the manufacturer. The company reported that potatoes and carrots baby food jars may be affected. Although one contaminated jar was identified, it was not consumed by the customer. Following the discovery, HiPP initiated a recall of its products from all SPAR supermarket locations across Austria on Friday night. The supermarket chain confirmed it has withdrawn the affected goods from its shelves. Consumers have been advised not to open suspicious jars and to contact the police immediately. The Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) is currently investigating the situation.
