Larnaca development committee announces protest over port and marina delays
The Larnaca Development Committee has unanimously decided to organize a protest following the Ministry of Transport's announcement that the Cyprus Ports Authority (CPA) will not submit a development proposal as previously expected. Local stakeholders were initially informed that the CPA was preparing a comprehensive plan for the port and marina, including land development. Instead, the government has decided to prioritize political decisions based on an upcoming study by the Greek Superfund, expected by the end of this month. Larnaca Mayor and Committee President Andreas Vyras stated that the Minister of Transport promised a concrete development plan 1 to 1.5 months after the study determines the availability of land. Mayor Vyras expressed frustration over two years of inactivity since the termination of the previous contract with the lead developer. The committee members believe that further delays are unacceptable and have committed to holding a demonstration in the coming days to demand immediate action. The date and specific logistics for this protest are currently being finalized by the committee.
