Death of National Transparency Authority auditor linked to Tempi case

Dimitris Trapeziotis, a 56-year-old civil engineer and auditor for the National Transparency Authority, was found dead in his home on April 15. The death was announced by the POE EMDYDAS union. Trapeziotis was a key figure in the investigation of the OSE Contract 717, which is currently the subject of legal proceedings related to the 2023 Tempi train collision. He was facing criminal charges for dereliction of duty in connection to this contract. The union stated that Trapeziotis and his colleagues had previously identified problems within Contract 717 in a formal report. POE EMDYDAS suggests that the high stress caused by his ongoing prosecution contributed to his sudden death.
