Application filed to cancel search warrant in the Santi case
Lawyer Nikos Kliridis, represented by Christos Kliridis, filed a motion at the Supreme Court on Tuesday to cancel a search warrant executed at his residence. The warrant was issued as part of the investigation into the case known as 'Santi'. The legal team argues that the police search was disproportionate and violated fundamental legal principles, particularly attorney-client privilege. They claim the seizure of a smartphone granted the police access to confidential data belonging to thousands of unrelated clients. The defense proposes that any seized material be reviewed by an independent third party, such as a representative of the Cyprus Bar Association, to filter out sensitive and irrelevant information. Nikos Kliridis maintains he has had no communication with the individual identified as 'Santi' and labeled the investigation's premises as erroneous. If the court grants the motion, the warrant would be canceled ab initio, rendering any evidence collected during the search inadmissible. The Supreme Court will decide if the case requires a single judge or the full bench for review.
