Cyprus Football Association reschedules matches due to severe dust levels

The Cyprus Football Association (CFA) addressed the impact of severe dust levels on sporting activities scheduled for April 18, 2026. While most matches in the Cyprus League by Stoiximan proceeded, the Omonia Nicosia vs. APOEL derby was delayed from 17:00 to 18:00 to allow air quality to improve. This decision followed a significant spike in air pollution, with Nicosia levels jumping from 76 µg/m³ to 709 µg/m³. Additionally, the CFA rescheduled postponed 13th-matchday games from the second division (B' Category) and third division (G' Category) that were originally cancelled the previous Saturday. These rescheduled games are now set for Tuesday, April 21, and Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Despite varying reports regarding air quality trends, authorities maintained that the improved conditions justified proceeding with the competition schedule. The football governing body confirmed that the updated schedule aims to protect the health of players while ensuring the completion of the championship calendar.
