Fatal apartment fire in Kolonos, Athens
On Saturday morning shortly after 06:00, a fire broke out in a third-floor apartment on Argous Street in the Kolonos neighborhood of Athens. The fire, which reportedly started due to a suspected gas leak, spread to an adjacent unit in the three-story building. Emergency services deployed 15 firefighters and four vehicles to the scene. Two siblings, a man approximately 50 years old and his sister, were found dead inside. Conflicting reports exist regarding the number of hospitalizations, with sources citing either two women or one woman being transported for medical care. According to media reports, one injured woman is approximately 80 years old and was treated for respiratory issues and burns. Residents of the affected and neighboring apartments were evacuated for safety reasons. The fire resulted in significant material damage to the building.
