United States delays weapon shipments to Europe due to military pressure from Iran conflict

U.S. officials have informed European counterparts that previously agreed weapon shipments will likely be delayed. These delays are attributed to the depletion of U.S. weapon and ammunition stockpiles caused by the ongoing conflict with Iran, which began with U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on February 28. The supply chain disruptions particularly affect European countries, including nations in the Baltic and Scandinavian regions. Many of the affected items were purchased through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program but have not yet been delivered. Both the Estonian and Lithuanian defense ministries confirmed that they received notifications from the U.S. regarding these potential delays. The White House and the State Department have directed inquiries to the Pentagon. A Pentagon spokesperson stated that the U.S. military remains the strongest in the world and will ensure that both U.S. forces and allies possess necessary resources.
