Inmate injured in attack at Central Prisons

On Friday at approximately 7:25 p.m., a 22-year-old inmate was attacked by two fellow prisoners at the Central Prisons in Nicosia. Prison staff intervened immediately to bring the situation under control. The injured inmate was transported by ambulance to the Nicosia General Hospital Emergency Department. Following initial medical care, he was kept at the hospital for precautionary reasons. Prison authorities notified the police, who arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation and collect testimonies. The Prison Department stated that they are cooperating fully with the competent authorities regarding the incident. The circumstances surrounding the attack remain under investigation.
