Cyprus secures five spots in UEFA competitions for the 2027 season
Cyprus has officially secured the 15th position in the UEFA country coefficient rankings as of April 2026. This achievement dictates that for the 2026-2027 football season, the country will increase its European representation from four to five clubs. Under the new allocation, teams will qualify for the Champions League, the Europa League, and the Conference League. Specifically, the runners-up of the Cypriot championship will now have access to the Champions League path for non-champions. This change is expected to significantly increase financial revenue and motivate local clubs to enhance their transfer activity for the upcoming summer window. Increased competition is anticipated among top-tier teams, as well as talent movement between larger and smaller clubs within the domestic league. The season concludes amidst ongoing discussions regarding coaching changes and player transfers.
