Strovolos municipality threatens fines over illegal election banners

The Municipality of Strovolos has issued a formal warning regarding the unauthorized placement of advertising materials and election banners ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections. Officials stated that candidates and property owners have installed signage on building facades, fences, poles, and public areas without the required municipal permits. The local authority emphasizes that these installations negatively impact the city's aesthetics and pose potential risks to road safety. All parties responsible for the illegal structures have been ordered to remove them immediately. Should the items remain in place, the municipality intends to carry out forced removals at the offenders' expense. Furthermore, the municipal authority plans to issue out-of-court fines to both the individuals responsible for the advertisements and the owners of the properties where the banners are displayed. The regulation applies to all advertising media within municipal boundaries, regardless of whether they are located on public or private property.
