Freedom Holding Corp. acquires chess software company ChessBase
Freedom Holding Corp. has announced the acquisition of ChessBase, a long-standing provider of chess software, analytics, and database solutions. The investment for this project is estimated at approximately €5 million. Freedom Holding plans to integrate ChessBase into its SuperApp digital ecosystem while expanding the platform’s capabilities through artificial intelligence. According to CEO Timur Turlov, the company intends to leverage its base of over 11 million clients across more than 20 countries to increase ChessBase’s market reach. Despite the acquisition, the company confirmed that ChessBase’s headquarters will remain in Hamburg. The existing core team at ChessBase will be retained, and no job cuts are expected. The investment is specifically earmarked for modernizing the platform and enhancing its technological architecture. This deal aims to cater to both professional and amateur chess players by providing them with more advanced tools and resources.
