Severe weather, dust, and limited visibility affect Cyprus road network

Heavy rain, dust concentrations, and fog have significantly impacted the road network across Cyprus since April 17, 2026. Reports of water accumulation and slippery road surfaces were noted in areas including Paphos, Limassol, and along the Paphos-Limassol motorway. Hail was reported in the Zygi area, while thick fog significantly reduced visibility on the route between Moniatis and Troodos. Authorities also identified Avdimou as an area with extremely limited visibility due to high dust levels. The Meteorological Department warned of low pressure, persistent dust until Sunday, and potential thunderstorms with hail. The Cyprus Police have issued multiple advisories urging drivers to maintain low speeds, keep safe distances, and keep headlights on. Pedestrians and drivers are advised to exercise caution due to the volatile conditions across the island.
