Bids submitted for Paphos–Polis Chrysochous highway section
On April 17, 2026, the Cyprus Ministry of Transport received two bids for the completion of the 15.5 km highway section from Agia Marinouda to Stroumbi. Cyfield Construction Ltd submitted a bid of €124,850,000, while a joint venture of Araco Construction Cy Ltd and Geostroy AD bid €128,935,480, both excluding VAT. The original project estimate was €90.2 million. The tender process faced significant delays following an August 2025 legal challenge by Aktor, which was ultimately rejected by the Tenders Review Authority in November 2025. The Ministry previously clarified that the cancelled 2021 contract—originally valued at €72.98 million—would have resulted in a total cost of €119 million including claims and extensions, rejecting public discourse claims of costs under €100 million. The project scope includes two traffic lanes, five valley bridges, two tunnels, and multiple intersections. Evaluation of the new bids is currently underway to determine the award based on the most economically advantageous offer.
