Nicosia police arrest 23-year-old following drug seizure

On April 15, 2026, members of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) and the Customs Department intercepted a postal package at the Nicosia Mail Sorting Center. The shipment, which originated from abroad, contained approximately 400 grams of cannabis. Following the discovery, authorities identified and arrested a 23-year-old man. The suspect faces charges related to illegal importation, possession, and possession of narcotics with intent to supply. On the day following his arrest, the suspect was scheduled to appear before the Nicosia District Court to request a detention order. The Nicosia division of YKAN is currently conducting a further investigation into the case. No further suspects have been identified at this time. The case remains open as evidence is processed.
