Between January and March 2026, the Cyprus Police Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) investigated 271 cases involving 278 individuals. Authorities reported the seizure of over 300 kilograms of illicit substances, including cannabis, cocaine, cannabis resin, methamphetamine, and Captagon. In a specific operation in Paralimni, officers discovered over 8 kilograms of cannabis and 280 grams of cannabis resin in a parcel delivered via courier, leading to the arrest of a 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman. Separately, on April 15, a 23-year-old man was arrested in Nicosia for receiving a parcel from the United States containing 376 grams of cannabis. Furthermore, on April 16, Limassol police and customs officials seized 590 cannabinoid-based products and 100 cannabis-infused chocolates from a warehouse, resulting in the arrest of a 58-year-old man. All suspects have been presented before district courts for remand hearings. The police emphasized that these operations are part of a systematic effort to combat drug trafficking throughout the Republic of Cyprus.
